Diesel average is down for fourth time in last five weeks, reports EIA

With a 3.1-cent decrease, the national diesel average now stands at $3.105 per gallon, following 1.5-cent and 1.2-cent declines, respectively, over the previous two weeks.

With a 3.1-cent decrease, the national diesel average now stands at $3.105 per gallon, following 1.5-cent and 1.2-cent declines, respectively, over the previous two weeks.  

This week also marked the 17th consecutive week that the national diesel average has topped the $3 per gallon mark.

Prior to that, the average had been below the $3 per gallon mark for five weeks, and before that stretch, the last time that the national average dipped below the $3 per gallon mark was the week of March 19, 2018, when it was at $2.972.

On an annual basis, this week’s average is down 16.1 cents, ahead of last week’s 14.9-cent annual spread.

West Texas Intermediate Crude oil is currently trading at $53.70 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
